Cosmetic Surgery

Are you considering cosmetic surgery?

Are you unsure about the different types of medical professionals performing cosmetic procedures, and their qualifications?

This section is designed to provide you with unbiased information about your doctor’s formal training and tips to help you decide which surgeon to choose.

Please remember your surgeon will generally have additional training and experience in cosmetic procedures they have a special interest in.

What is the difference between Cosmetic Surgery and Plastic Surgery?

Cosmetic surgery is a specific field of medicine that focuses on enhancing the physical appearance through surgical and medical techniques and can be performed on all areas of the body. Cosmetic surgery is generally considered to be 'elective' as treated areas function properly but lack aesthetic appeal.

Plastic surgery is defined as a surgical specialty dedicated to reconstruction of facial and body defects due to birth disorders, trauma, burns and disease. Plastic surgery is intended to correct dysfunctional areas of the body and is reconstructive in nature.
